Silver How (DoBIH Hill ID: 2499)
Objective: To survey the Prominence/ drop of this hill.
Background: In May 2018 this hill was upgraded to Tump status P30+ based upon research by Myrddyn Phillips/Aled Williams for the 'The Fours' who had identified that there was 7 contour lines [when 5m contours were available in OS Maps] with it's prominence changing from P28 to P31.
JNSA Dataset: Line 9988 no Lidar is available for either the summit or Col.
Date: Saturday 4th September 2021
Weather Conditions: overcast and calm
Equipment: Trimple Geo 7x
Summit: The summit position is embedded rock adjacent to a small summit cairn. The summit position is at NY 32477 06644.
Col: The critical col between Silver How and Lang How runs north/ south valley to valley, the ground is very flat at this col. There is a small tarn with it's outflow running north. Measured the col position immediately south of this tarn at NY 32134 06631.
Output: The difference between the summit and col height positions is 30.49m.
Conclusion: The site survey confirms the upgrade to P30 from the OS Contour lines. No changes to Hill List statuses are required.
